Sunflour is a story of passion, resilience, and a deep-seated love for baking. It’s the result of a long journey, filled with unexpected turns and a final return to what truly lights up my life—and my kitchen.

It all started as a little girl in my nana's kitchen, where my biggest joy was licking the spoon at the end of a baking session (don't worry, all our treats now adhere to the strictest health and safety standards!). That early love for baking grew through after-school sessions with my mum and sister, but my path to a baking career was anything but a straight line.

After a few shattered plans and a brief, unfulfilling detour into business school, I found my way back to the oven, enrolling in a baking trade certificate. The joy of learning and creating was back, but the pressures of the industry eventually began to dim my passion. To protect my love for baking from turning into a chore, I took a step back and returned to university to study digital marketing and media production.

It was there that I discovered a new passion: food photography. Through the lens of a camera, I saw my baked goods in a new light, and the creative flame that once burned in the kitchen was re-ignited. Sunflour is the culmination of these two passions, a micro-bakery where I get to combine my love for crafting high-quality baked goods with my eye for capturing their beauty.

The name "Sunflour" is a tribute to my favorite flower, the sunflower. Like the sunflower, which is warm, inviting, and resilient, we strive to bring a little bit of that summer feeling into every loaf of bread and every sweet treat we bake. Our mission is simple, to bake quality bakery style baked goods for the local Red Deer communities.

Sunflour as a brand stands tall as a testament to following your passion, no matter how winding the road may be, and we are so excited to share our cozy corner of the internet with you.
